r. David Nanang was appointed as the Director General at Natural Resources Canada’s Great Lakes Forestry Centre in January 2014. Prior to this appointment he was the acting Director General since February 2012. Dr. Nanang first joined the Great Lakes Forestry Centre as Director of Forest Ecology in March 2009. Dr. Nanang’s previous experience also includes working as a Senior Policy Advisor from 2006 to 2009 and as an Environmental Policy and Regulatory Affairs Advisor from 2005 to 2006 at Indian and Northern Affairs. He first started his career with the federal public service as an Economist with the Canadian Forest Service in Ottawa in 2003. Prior to coming to Canada, Dr. Nanang held forestry positions in his native Ghana such as Deputy District Forest Officer and Lecturer in Forestry at the University for Development Studies. Dr. Nanang has a BSc in Natural Resource Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. He has an MSc in Forestry from Lakehead University and a PhD in Forest Economics from the University of Alberta. He has authored one book, co-authored another, and co-edited a book on natural resources. He has approximately 35 peer reviewed articles, reports and book chapters.
